Bert & Iris coincidentally move to SF in the same month. Bert's just spent a year abroad in Prague and has heard nothing but good things about San Francisco. Iris just finished college in Colorado and wants a little taste of the big city life, so she packs all her belongings and heads west to the best city she’s been to in the States.

Iris’ roomate invites Bert to go snowboarding in Tahoe with Iris. Bert shows up late, but Iris overlooks this since he‘s happy to make the exhausting drive up to Tahoe and back in one day (which they do many weekends)! They bond in blizzards, traffic jams, snow chains and beautiful vistas.

By April they’re inseparable. Iris has so much fun with Bert, she’s as giddy as a school girl. Bert tells his roomate Iris is awesome and the roomate spills the beans. The have "the talk" after flying kites in Levi’s plaza and it’s offical they’re a thing.

Bert & Iris take their first trip abroad together to Costa Rica where they the share their love of travel, ziplining through rainforests, watching lava flow from a volcano and basking in gorgeous sunsets.

Bert & Iris quit their jobs, pack their backpacks and head to Thailand where they travel around for a few months before they settle in Phuket for a month where Iris gets certified to teach English. They move into their first house together in Korat, Thailand, a very Thai city.

Bert & Iris go on a trip to Laos and fall in love with the country, the people, and the way of life. Iris gets a job teaching English in the capital, Vientiane, and they soon settle into the community. Every couple months they take a break and travel to Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Burma.

Bert & Iris spend a few weeks in Bali with Iris' dad and they get scuba certified in Lombok. Then they head to Singapore to meet Bert's parents and together they go on a trip to India to see the Taj Mahal.

Bert gets a job at Flickr, his dream job, so Bert & Iris move back to San Francisco, rekindle their friendships and make new ones.

Bert gets accepted into the first class of Start-Up Chile so Bert & Iris move to Santiago, Chile so Bert can work on a startup with his friend, Chris. They use Santiago as a base to travel around South America.

Bert & Iris travel to Peru where they hike through rainforests and Machu Picchu before meeting Bert's parents in Valparaiso where they embark on a cruise around the tip of South America. They get to see Iguazu Fall from both the Argentina and Brazil sides and then decide to spend a month living in an apartment in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires.

Bert surprises Iris with a trip to Egypt for her 30th birthday and they visit pyramids, float down the Nile on a felucca, and explore tombs.

Bert proposes to Iris at botanical gardens on Winter solstice in the tiny Icelandic town of Akureyri.
